The 5 AM Club
Ever wonder how people are so motivated, successful and energetic? Yeah, I wondered the same thing when I first started my fitness career. I could not wake up earlier than 10 AM and somehow I still felt tired and unproductive. I honestly thought people were out of their minds for waking up so early. I always liked to get everything done when I wake up so I can have a more relaxed evening but if I’m waking up at ten in the morning, I didn’t have much daylight! I knew I needed to get my sh*t together and change my ways. Luckily, during this period of realization I met the man of my dreams! And guess what, he wakes up at the earliest of three in the morning for his job as a commercial fisherman so I honestly had no excuse to get the ball rolling. If he was able to get his ass up then I was on a mission to get up with him. No, I did not wake up at three in the morning right at the bat with him but I did start somewhere and progressively made it to 5 AM. While I was making my way to 5AM, I was stoked. I had so much energy and my productivity was INSANE. I now bounce off the walls in the morning, sometimes I can’t even get myself to sleep because I am so excited to get shit done in the morning!
It’s official, I am now a morning person. Who would have thought? It was hard to get where I am now but it is possible and totally worth it! Not only do I feel amazing 24/7 but my business is now thriving and my relationships have never been better. Now and again I do sleep in a little later so I don’t get totally drained.. Life is about balance!

The first hour of your day and how you spend it often sets the tone for the rest of your day and your life. By waking up earlier, you start to reduce the stress in your life by eliminating the need to rush in the mornings. Believe me when I say this will add an incredible amount of positivity to your life and you will start to notice a change in your attitude.
Now let’s get to it, here are some things you should try out if you want to join the club!
Have a game plan – Plan out the following day, why? Because you won’t be fooling around in the morning trying to figure out what to do next. We want to keep getting shit done!!
Settle down earlier – Be in bed early. Unless you had a crazy day, you probably won’t hit the pillow and instantly fall asleep. Your body needs time to relax and settle in. Read a book or flip through a magazine, reading can make you sleepy!
Get off the social media networks!! – Yup, I’m guilty. You wake you and scroll through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. am I right? I could stay in bed for an extra two hours if I pick up my phone and start scrolling. Instead, get up out of bed first and start getting ready. You have all day to scroll through what your friends are doing!
Find peace & quiet – My biggest problem is that my family isn’t on the same page as me. They stay up late and make a ton of noise! EARPLUGS are my best friend. I can’t sleep without them now. Get good blinds and earplugs. It is a life changer!
How does waking up early help productivity?
There are less distractions in the early hours of the day so you can achieve more with minimal interruptions.
After a good night’s sleep, your brain is charged and ready to work hard. You are at your efficient best and will get things done quicker and better.
Early risers are also better at making decisions, planning and setting goals.
Waking up early may find you grumpy in the beginning but once you get used to it, you will have more energy to take on the day.
So, waking up early may be hard but with baby steps, even if it’s just waking up 15 minutes earlier to start with – you can start improving your quality of life.
