I’m here to give you the no B.S version you should have gotten in the first place! In this article I will be going over the myths & truths about having a six-pack, as well as give you a handful of workouts you can start incorporating into your current fitness routine. Let’s get started!
If you are constantly eating garbage, your stomach – arms, skin, legs, arteries will ALSO look like garbageQuinn McNicholas
1. You can’t out- sit up a bad diet
If you are constantly munching and eating on garbage, your stomach – arms, skin, legs, arteries will ALSO look like garbage. Building your dream body or abs in this case, starts in the kitchen. Your portion sizes are crucial to looking shredded. The truth is, if you eat more calories than you burn, you’ll gain weight.
2. Carbs DO NOT kill abs
You NEED Carbohydrates to survive, it’s essential for your body to function. The key here to eat healthy carbohydrates, not the ones that are in crazy packages with other ingredients you can’t even pronounce. Go back to the basics with veggies, fruits, legumes, rice, whole-grain pasta, beans and oatmeal.
3. Crunches are a thing in the past
This has to be the most popular exercise everyone does because it has been drilled in the world’s head that it will give you abs. Most people aren’t even performing them correctly to begin with. So forget crunches and try out these new ab exercises I filmed for you below:
4. Can I spot reduce my fat around my abs?
Doing 100 crunches a day or doing the exercises I had shown you above won’t guarantee your abs will show. There are TONS of factors that play into all of it. No, you cannot spot reduce… quite frankly, you can’t spot reduce ANYTHING!!
As mentioned above, a strict diet must be in place to reduce your overall body fat. Depending on how your body responds to your hard work, fat could disappear more in one spot then the other.. but guess what? That’s life! and how your body was created. We all not all created equal and we all have TOTALLY different body types. One person might hold more fat in their upper body and another person might hold it in their lower body. We are all made different!
Your stress levels and sleep also play a HUGE role in your fat loss journey and could be keeping you with no progress.
5. What kind of Cardio do I need to do?
Here’s another myth.. a lot of people think that you need to do hours of steady state cardio. That’s not the case. Cardio training will of course help you burn those calories over time but there are other ways to burn calories, like interval training. With interval training you could potentially speed up your metabolic rate so you experience a faster rate of fat loss throughout the entire course of the day, but cardio training isn’t the only way to go about losing abdominal fat. If you are someone who absolutely hates cardio, don’t think you need to be doing it constantly. You could just tighten up your diet and make up for the calories you aren’t burning during your cardio session. I suggest going on long walks or riding your bike around to burn a few extra calories. it’s all about making it fun, not dreadful!!
Remember, it’s not easy to obtain abs. The people you see on magazine covers go through extremes to look like that.. and they get paid big bucks to!! The best thing I suggest, especially to young women who are looking up to those women on the covers, is to just work hard and forget about “looking a certain way”
All my clients I have trained so far, have come to me telling me about their “ideal body” they want to achieve.
They are working their butts off with me and a few weeks in they tell me “they feel F’N amazing” and no longer care about “the ideal body” they once dreamed about. They are stronger than ever, their bodies are changing in so many ways and the thought of their “ideal body” is out the window!
It’s amazing what working hard can do to not only your body, but your mind.
